  • Biography

After serving in the US Marine Corps as an F-4 fighter pilot, John’s entire post-military career has been in the PET industry. First with the major PET resin producer, Eastman Chemical, in both technical and marketing capacities, then as the

vice president and general manager of a PET preform manufacturer.

In 1995 John began his consulting career with Container Consulting, purchased that business in 2000, purchased a second consultancy - Strategic Business Analysis – in 2010, and merged these into the present-day SBA-CCI,Inc.

Today, the SBAcci consultancy covers the entire global PET value stream - from petrochemical feed stocks, to PET resin, to equipment, to container manufacturers, to closures and labels, to end-use applications, and beyond to recycling.

John holds a B.S. from East Tennessee State University, an M.S. from The University of Southern California. He has also studied at the Naval Postgraduate School and Harvard University.

He is married for 37 years to the lovely and talented Beth Hughes Maddox. They have three beautiful children and one very special grandchild (photos available upon request).

Free time is spent on the race tracks of the Southeast as an instructor with the Porsche Club of America and as a driving coach for those learning the finer points of “heel-toe” shifting and driving rear-engine Porsches.
