  • Overcoming Technical and Sustainability Roadblocks for High Clarity PP Bottles

Despite its attractiveness, PP bottles in the US has remained a niche for a long time. During the presentation, we will cover how the existing challenges have been addressed by technology advances and have a closer look at PP bottles from a sustainability point of view.

This presentation will include a discussion of:

    • Growth opportunities & technical challenges for the use of PP in blow molding.
    • Technology advances to produce high clarity PP bottles on high speed EBM machines.
    • Attractiveness of UltraClear PP bottles from a sustainability point of view.
  • Biography

Bernard joined Milliken 27 years ago in Europe and is currently located at their Global HDQ’s in South Carolina. Over the years he has held various roles in sales, applications, new business & strategy development for their Polymer Additives business.

Although Bernard has led the development of various HDPE applications ranging from shrinkage control in CSD caps to barrier improvement in pharma bottles and productivity enhancement in UN pails, he is still very passionate about the technical breakthroughs that he helped realize in clarified polypropylene bottles.

Key Examples include launch of the first clear PP EBM bottles in the mid-nineties, technical & commercial viability of using PP on high-speed stretch blow molding machines, and clarifier technology allowing the production of UltraClear PP EBM.
