The inaugural issue of BLOW MOLDING QUARTERLY launched February 24, 2017. The Division will produce four issues per year with the first and third quarters in print which will be mailed to all members of the Blow Molding Division, and in digital format which can be viewed at blowmoldingdivision.org

Introduction of industrial robots for the blow molded parts take-out is a well-known technology, particularly in automotive sector. The manufacturers of large industrial blow molded parts are still hesitant to introduce any automation in conjunction with the blow molding process.

Majority of the blow molders,particularly in the accumulator head machine sector, heavily rely on manual labor for their secondary operations after the parts have been retrieved from the mold by a machine take-out and dropped, usually, on the table.

Robert A. Slawska has been associated with the plastics industry for over 38 years in many numerous positions of importance and innovative assignments.

Starting in the mid 1960’s at Midland Ross/Hartig building all types of Blow Molding equipment, he knew this is where his career should be. Blow Molding was new, exciting and wide open for innovations and developments. There were no accounting restraints and everyone wanted to advance the “State of the Art” of Blow Molding. Many mistakes were made in these early days. However, there also was much more accomplished. All of us could do whatever we wanted even though it might have been above reason.

At the Hollow Parts Conference hosted by the SPE Chicago Section, SPE Blow Molding Division,

Thermoforming and Rotomolding Divisions, Partners In Plastic’s blow molded hard-sided suitcase won the award for The Best Blow Molded Product and The Best In Show of all the parts on display. The competition, including Vacuum Formed, Rotational Molded, and Blow Molded parts, featured 36 entries from various manufacturers.
