Annual Blow Molding (ABC) Conference 2010
The Crowne Plaza Atlanta Perimeter at Ravinia will be the site for the 2010 Annual Blow Molding Conference. The conference will feature industry speakers presenting segments in both packaging and industrial applications. From resin developments to machinery innovations to automation, design and safety, no topic will be missed. Attendees of past ABC conferences have expressed their enthusiasm regarding the breadth and depth of information they were exposed to during this event.

Annual Blow Molding (ABC) Conference 2009
The SPE Blow Molding Division hosted the 25th annual conference for the Blow Molding Industry, October 7-8, 2009, on the campus of Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan. On the first day technical sessions and exhibits were held in the James B. Henry Center for Executive Development. The morning of the 2nd day was dedicated to Blow Molding 101 Learning sessions. In the afternoon Bekum America Corporation organized an Oktoberfest lunch, guided tour and live demonstration of their latest extrusion blow molding machine, Model BM-406DMPL incorporating Multi-Parting Line technology.

The SPE Blow Molding Division’s annual awards were presented at dinner.  The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Thomas E. Brady, PhD, who founded Plastic Technologies Inc. (PTI) in late 1985.  Prior to that Dr. Brady was VP and Director of Technology for Owens-Illinois, Inc., leading the technical and commercial development of PET bottle technology. The 2009 new Student scholarship recipients, Mark Gardner (Carrie Fox Solin Memorial Scholarship) and Evan Perkins (ExxonMobil Chemical Company Scholarship); and 2009 Student Design Competition winners, 1st Place - Brad Beers; 2nd Place - Zachary Stefanik; and 3rd Place - Steve Parrish, were also recognized.

Annual Blow Molding (ABC) Conference 2008
The SPE Blow Molding Division hosted the 24th annual conference for the Blow Molding Industry in the fall of 2008 at Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Technical sessions and exhibits were held in the Bartlesville Community Center. Guided tours of the Chevron-Phillips Technical Laboratory were conducted in addition to the regular program.

ABC 2007 - “Blow Molding Challenges and Opportunities”
For over two days, the Blow Molding Industry met at the Seagate Convention Center in Toledo, Ohio, for its annual Blow Molding Conference. This year’s conference included a distinguished list of attendees and keynote speakers. Highlighting day one was the Keynote Speaker, Ashok Sudan, Executive VP of Graham Packaging. Ashok presented “Current State of the Industry, Challenges & Opportunities”. Other presentations covered topics ranging from packaging material advancements, automotive applications, packaging innovations, industrial design, sustainability, regulatory topics, and market trends, to education sessions.

ABC 2006: "Innovations in Blow Molding"
The 2006 Annual Blow Molding Conference was held at the MUS Education Center in Troy, Michigan. The keynote speaker, Greg Dean, Vice President Plastipak, spoke on changes in the packaging market segment; brand owner relationships; and what is needed to meet those changes. The conference also featured speakers who covered industry segments in both packaging and industrial applications. From resin developments to machinery innovations to automation, design and safety, no topic was missed.

ABC 2005
The SPE Blow Molding Division’s Annual Conference, ABC 2005, held in Toledo, Ohio was another great success. This event has become the premier industry venue for all segments of the blow molding industry from resin supplier to end-user. Keynote speaker was Bill Carteaux, President of the Society of the Plastics Industry (SPI) who talked about the state of the plastic industry and enthusiastically stressed the need to support the Plastics Industry at local, state and national levels. The conference also featured speakers covering different aspects of packaging and industrial applications. Over 200 industry personnel, speakers and students attended the conference.

ABC 2004 - “Manufacturing Efficiency in Blow Molding”
The 2004 Annual Blow Molding Conference was held on September 22-23 at the Industrial Materials Institute near downtown Montreal.
The conference gave blow molders, resin manufacturers, mold-makers and machinery manufacturers the opportunity to interact on a variety of technical subjects.

ABC 2003 - "Innovations in Blow Molding Technology: New techniques that Impact automotive design and efficiency"
This year’s Annual Blow Molding Conference was held October 14-15, at the MSU Education Conference Center, Troy, Michigan.The focus of ABC 2003 was the use of blow molding in the Automotive Industry.

ABC 2002 - "Innovations in Blowmolding Technology: Productivity and performance through machinery design"
The 2002 Annual Blow Molding Conference was held October 2-3, at the Heritage Hills Conference Center, York, Pennsylvania. Innovation in Blow Molding Technology was the theme of ABC 2002. Mr. Donald C. Graham, Chairman of the Graham Companies, was the keynote speaker. Topics presented at the conference covered developments in barrier technology; equipment design and automation; innovations in one stage and two stage blow molding; consumer packaging with enhanced properties and safety.  

Blow Molding Training Successful
The APC Automotive Learning Center in Troy offered a training session titled, “2005 Blow Molding: Design Processing & Trouble shooting”. The two-day seminar, specifically created for anyone in the blow molding industry, took place June 7 - 8, 2005. The seminar was designed to provide participants with the tools to help them become more productive, efficient, and to better compete in the global market.
